The Call of Booty

Okay, I think these will be my last pirates for a while. There are more in my sketchbook, but these two were my favorites. I've seen Dead Man's Chest twice now and I'm going again tonight. I absolutely love every single second of it. But I'll be the first to admit that I'm hopelessly biased. Old Pirate legends and ships and sea monsters and treasure maps and all that stuff is like crack to me. I can't get enough. Watching Pirates of the Caribbean is like someone feeding hot fudge brownies to my soul.

Anyway, I added a bunch of links to other great blogs recently. If you're featured in one of these links and wish not to be affiliated with me (something I can totally understand and maybe even endorse), let me know.

I LOVE these pirates! I'd see Pirates of the Caribbean every day too if these were there character designs. Don't feel like you can't post more pirate drawings... I can't get enough of them. Amazing work, man!

There is a certain nostalgia associated with Pirates that we just can't shed ourselves of. So don't try too hard. Fantastic Pirates! Certainly captures the feelings evoked by Pirate lore, the seven seas, sea monsters, etc.
And frankly, I'm honored to be associated with talent of your caliber. Thanks for linking our blogs!

Wow great stuff! I'm totally with you man, I'm a pirate fanatic myself and have read numerous books about pirate history. Have only seen "Dead Mans Chest" once so far, but might go for a second round this weekend.
Your pirates are awesome, please don't stop drawing pirates!!!;)

Nice Pirates. You should draw some pirates of the female persuasion, cause they have better bootie. Sorry, I had to. Anyway, I definitely do like. We need to hang out again soon so you can teach me all about painter. Later!

You can't go wrong with pirates. I think I want to join the pirate club and paint one too. Good job, Kevin.

Kev- your pirates are terrific, wonderful character designs. if only Orlando and Keria had as much character as your illustrations I wouldn't have had to endure the cinematic equivalent of a bag of rotten haddock when they appeared on the screen. Bar them, the rest of the film was great fun :-D
