New Sketchbook

Around Halloween I got a new sketchbook.  I was desperately needing something different after using essentially the same size and kind of sketchbook for years.  I wanted something wirebound with non-white paper so I could work in both the darker and lighter values.  They didn't seem like unreasonable or obscure expectations for a sketchbook but it took a surprising amount of time and research to find what I was looking for.  I eventually found this book which I've been loving (it's even eco-friendly for all you hippies out there).  The white highlights are done with one of those gel pens and the rest of the sketch is my stalwart Zebra ball point pen.  It feels so good to be sketching again on a regular basis.

Ok man, you have just made me seriously jealous! Great drawings, I am particularly a fan of the hair.

Oooo it's so good lookin'! Way to kick off the year.

Very nice! I like the Dinosaur! Do you find it better to have a wirebound book than a gluebound book?

Very nice. I love the hair and the dinosaur. Actually, all of the sketches are really cool, but the hair is my favorite.

Pibby - Definitely wirebound. I've been using gluebound until this one and it's superior in every way. Folding it over is the best part, it gives you a flat drawing surface.

Great sketches! Thanks for sharing the tools, too!

Awesome sketches! The hair is amazing in the top picture, especially for a sketch! The whisps of hair around the ears are especially a nice touch.

kevin, great drawings. do you dig right in with the pen or do you lightly pencil in a sketch first? (i ask because i don't see a single misplaced line!)

Mark - I usually use pencil first, not always.

These sketches are so fantastic. They don't look "sketchy" at all. How do you manage that? :O. Most of my sketchbooks are full of crap and scribblings and disaster!

Do you have some like that or do you always sketch so cleanly?

I found out about you via the Will Terry ad on You Tube. I was just curious of the model and size of Zebra pen you use in your sketch book. Your work is amazing.
