I'm always so excited to get a job from the Friend Magazine. The designers and art directors are awesome and these two paintings, like all the images I do for them, were very fun and fulfilling.
I wish the Pumpkin fun article would have featured your carving technique. I guess correlation wouldn't have approved the grotesque faces though, to the detriment of kids everywhere.
Nice picture of Jesus, I mean, the straight on version of that has got to be a frameable picture itself. I love the vibrant color scheme you've got going. It's also working really nice compositionally. Good work Kevin, inspiring as always. That magenta is just fantastic. It almost feels like you used some part of the color spectrum I haven't seen anywhere else.
